Shooting
Schedule
At the present, the club does not have a fixed
schedule for ISSF shooting activities. The skeet field has to be closed
(for safety) when the sporting clays course is open , so the sporting
clays schedule has to be worked around.
If you are interested
in shooting ISSF Skeet or ISSF Automatic Trap, we will do it by appointment
for now, on Saturday or Sunday mornings (8:00-9:30 AM, before sporting
clays), or on Monday or Wednesday evenings (6
PM).

Mission Statement
Skyline
Gun Club is committed to promotion of all shotgun sports, including
advancement of the ISSF (Olympic and World Cup) Clay Target
disciplines. The United States, with only a few exceptions in recent
history, has been lagging behind the other large countries in the world in
Olympic Shooting Sports. The one consistent shining star has been Kim
Rhode, having medaled in the past 3 Olympiads in Women's Double
Trap. However, she is retiring this year. Only with commitment and
dedication at the local level can the US rejuvenate its history of shooting
sports prowess, and rise to consistently challenge the current world leaders in
ISSF Shotgun, notably Italy and Spain, with other European and Asian
countries gaining ground each year.
Skyline Gun Club is taking up this challenge, and encourages
anyone, regardless of age, to join us in practicing and competing in these
challenging disciplines. Even if you have no aspirations to Olympic
greatness, your enthusiasm and support will help build interest, especially
among the younger shooters that certainly are the future of US greatness in
Olympic competition. Those not personally interested in competiting can
surely assist in introducing and encouraging the younger competitors to these
great shotgun games, not to mention the additional skills you will develop that
will enhance your other shotgun shooting interests.
Skyline Gun Club is especially interested in developing young
shooters' interest in the Olympic Clay Target disciplines. There is great
opportunity for young shooters who get a good start with proper training to
advance through the Junior Olympic Program, beginning at the local level and
progressing through development to the USA Shooting Teams, and on to World Cup
and Olympic competition.
ISSF
Skeet
Skyline Gun Club has an ISSF Regulation Skeet
Field, using GMV 455 Superstar traps that throw excellent, consistent
targets. Our field includes the specified warning lamps on the
houses, an electronic delay timer, and the option of pullcord or wireless
release. We hope to be adding a voice release system sometime during
2005.
ISSF Automatic
Trap
The club currently has one trap capable of throwing ISSF
regulation targets. There is no bunker at the present, so we make do by
placing the trap in front of a standard ATA trap house. While the vertical
target angles aren't precisely the same, and the visual appearance is somewhat
different than a proper bunker with the roof flush with the ground, we make do
and have a great time shooting these rocket-speed targets with 90 deg.
left-right variation and a 5 to 30 deg. random elevation when
released.
