Winter Leagues

The 2012 winter 5-stand and trap leagues will start on Saturday, Jan 28. Scores can be posted Saturday and/or Sunday each week. The leagues will run for 10 weeks. League fees will be $20.00 per shooter for the 5-stand league and $15.00 for the trap league or $30.00 if you shoot in both leagues.

Trap League

The trap league will be an individual competition, one round of trap (25 targets) from the 16 yard line each week. Awards will be given as follows:

1 to 10 shooters – High total score for the 10 weeks

11 to 20 shooters – Top two total scores for the 10 weeks

20 to 30 shooters – Top three total scores

30 + - Top 4 total scores

5- Stand League

The 5-stand league will be a team competition with each team consisting of two shooters. All shooters will shoot two different courses for a total of 50 targets each week. All shooting will be from the enclosed 5-stand. Five teams will shoot at a time. Both shooters on a team will go to an assigned window. Shooter 1 from the team at window 1 will shoot the 5 targets followed by shooter 2 for the blue course. The teams at windows 2 -5 will follow. After all teams have shot, each team will rotate one window to the right. After all teams have shot the blue coarse, the original team at window 1 will start the red course in the same manner. This format is flexible and may change as the league progresses. Each shooter’s scores will be handicapped based on the 50 target total and then added as a team score.

Signup sheets for specific squad times will be available.

Scores for the 5-stand league will be handicapped as follows:

The number of handicap points added to a shooter’s score will be based on 70% of the difference between 45 and the running average of a shooter’s raw scores. The raw score is the actual number of targets broken. Handicap points will be rounded to the nearest whole number.

Any shooter with an average of 45 or greater will not receive any handicap points.

Example:

Week 1 – Raw score is 30 . 45 – 30 = 15 x 0.7 = 10.5

Total score posted is 30 + 10 = 40

Week 2 – Raw score is 26 . Average = (30 + 26)/2 = 28

45 – 28 = 17 x .7 = 11.9, rounded to 12.

Total score posted is 26 + 12 = 38

The first, second and third high scoring teams will receive awards at the end of the league.

Lava Rock Challenge 2011

The Lava Rock Challenge is scheduled for October 8, 2011.  This is a combined pistol and sporting clays competition between the SEIPS Pistol club and the Skyline Gun Club.  It’s a chance for people to get out and do something different, and everyone who shot last year had a great time.  This year, the pistol course is a 175 round USPSA style shoot.  Immediately following the pistol shoot, there will be a 100 bird sporting clay course.

Cost is $50 per shooter which includes lunch at Skyline Gun Club.  To sign up, email Adrian Alford at adrian@expeditionfirearms.com.

Shooting begins at 8:00AM at the SEIPS range, so show up early.

Lava Rock Challenge shoot shirts will be sold during the competition.

Adrian Alford has offered to conduct a pistol clinic on October the 2nd at 10:00 AM at the SEIPS range (65th West north of the Arco Highway) for SGC shooters who plan to participate.  You will need to bring at least 100 rounds, extra magazines, and a holster for the gun you want to use at the shoot.
